Desi Ghee has been described as very useful in Ayurveda. If you fail to consume ghee, there are many other ways in which ghee can be used. Such as a drop in the nose, enema and skin etc.

Ghee pacifies pitta and vata. Therefore, it is ideal for people suffering from Vata and Pitta imbalance disorders along with Vata-Pitta body type. Here we are talking about Desi Ghee.

  • For digestion

Good digestion is the key to good health and ghee can support healthy digestion by healing the lining of your stomach. Butyric acid, being rich in a short-chain fatty acid, nourishes intestinal cells. It reduces inflammatory conditions, reduces leakage of unchanged food particles, and aids in repair of mucosal wall.


  • To increase energy level

Ghee can boost your metabolism as well as energy level. The medium-chain fatty acids in this are particularly useful for increasing your energy level. These fatty acids are quickly processed by the liver and burn it as energy. They do not go into adipose tissue which can contribute to weight gain.

Ghee is applied to relieve irritation and excitement. When the ears of the children are pierced, ghee is applied first to reduce pain and irritation and to make the piercing process easier. Disadvantage of Desi ghee

  • It is best to avoid the use of ghee during jaundice, hepatitis, fatty liver changes.

  • Too much ghee can cause indigestion and diarrhea.

  • Ghee increases weight, so take care of an obese person.

  • Use of ghee during cold and cough can make the condition worse.Unrefined ghee should not be taken in the condition of bile, especially when bile is associated with AMA(Anti-mitochondrial antibodies).

  • When pregnant women are suffering from cold or indigestion, then avoid consuming ghee.
